Hanging Entrance Gates

There are two ways to hang a gate, either on the back or between posts.

Single Gate hung on back of posts:
Size of gate required = Distance between posts + 2" (50mm) - i.e. gate overlaps each post by 1" (25mm). Use double strap hinges and spring fastener or auto catch.

Single Entrance Gate Hung on Back of Posts

Double Gates hung on back of posts:
Size of gate required = Distance between posts + 2 1/2" (63mm) -  i.e. gate overlaps each post by 1" (25mm), with 1/2" (12mm) gap in centre. Use double strap hinges and drop-over loop and adjustable drop bolt.

This crook is correctly positioned when there is 2 1/4" (56mm) between centre of pin and face of posts. The same applies as opposite when hanging between posts, making 4" (100mm) between gate hanging stile and post.
